Weltman, Weinberg & Reis Co., LPA (Weltman), a full-service creditors' rights law firm now in its 87th year of client service, is pleased to announce that Compliance Officer Eileen M. Bitterman has been selected to serve on the 2017-18 ACA International Member Attorney Program (MAP) Committee.
ACA International is an association of credit and collection professionals that aims to bring together third-party collection agencies, law firms, asset buying companies, creditors, and vendor affiliates. Founded in 1939, ACA currently represents more than 230,000 industry employees. ACA International contributes to the success of its members and the positive reputation of the credit and collection industry through education, advocacy, and services.
The goal of the MAP Committee is to provide insights to the Board of Directors and ACA staff regarding the special interests of the attorney member segment of the association. This includes increasing membership and membership participation, and generating topics and ideas to meet the educational needs of members.
Ms. Bitterman is based in Weltman's Brooklyn Heights office. She is a Shareholder and the firm's Compliance Officer, and holds more than 20 years tenure with the firm. Ms. Bitterman is responsible managing the Compliance Audit Department and the Compliance Management System Steering Committee. The Compliance Audit Department partners with applicable business units to oversee internal and client audit efforts, the development and review of policies and procedures, the document review program, client agreements, complaint analysis and response, employee compliance training, and litigation defense strategies.
She has been selected as an Ohio Rising Star, and is AV® Preeminent™ Rated by Martindale-Hubbell, its highest available rating for legal ability and professional ethics. She currently serves as an elected representative on the Council of Delegates for the Ohio State Bar Association, and serves on the Joint Bar Admissions Committee and Appeals Subcommittee of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association. She is a frequent lecturer on regulatory and federal laws that impact the debt collection industry. Ms. Bitterman earned her J.D. from Cleveland State University Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 1997, and a B.A. in economics from University of Dayton in 1991.
