Newspaper in Coshocton County, Ohio, Suspends Publication of Foreclosure Sales

The Sheriff of Coshocton County, Ohio recently changed to a different Newspaper, The Coshocton County Beacon, for publication of the county’s sheriff’s sales, and a lawsuit was filed by the prior newspaper against the Beacon. The issue is currently being mediated.  Due to the litigation, the Beacon has advised that it is suspending publication of legal notices, which would include notices of sheriff’s sales.

The Sheriff is hopeful that the matter will be resolved within the next 30 days, at which time publication of the legal notices for Sheriff’s sales will resume.

In the meantime, because publication of sheriff’s sales is required by state statute, the Sheriff will be delaying the scheduling of all foreclosure sales in the county, until the litigation between the newspapers is resolved.

Weltman will take the necessary action to seek to have its cases in Coshocton County scheduled as soon as the Sheriff is able to resume publication.  Only properties located in Coshocton County are affected.
