When Al joined the firm in 1976, he was one of just 30 employees. In 1981, the decision was made to open a Columbus office, and Al was asked to lead the charge. He found the real estate, wired phones, and even moved walls – all while managing his legal practice and business development efforts. Al was made a named partner in 1994, in recognition of his many contributions to the firm. Today he celebrates more than 45 years of service and remains chiefly responsible for growing the firm’s Central Ohio client base. Recently, Al stepped down from the firm's Management Committee, after more than two decades of service.
Al represents creditors throughout Central Ohio, working with a range of clients, from community banks and credit unions, to some of the largest and most recognizable financial institutions in the U.S. He represents his clients through all stages of collections and litigation, to help them collect on loans, B2B trade debt, credit cards, fraud, and many other types of commercial debt, as well as managing the firm’s national replevin and collateral recovery network.
Recognized numerous times throughout his career, Al was awarded the 2018 Professionalism Award by the Columbus Bar Association - an organization he has been an active member of for more than 40 years. The nomination was a result of his exceptional dedication to the profession and his demonstrated integrity. He is also AV® Preeminent™ Rated by Martindale-Hubbell, its highest available rating for legal ability and professional ethics, and has been selected for multiple editions of the Ohio Super Lawyers List 2007-2008, 2010, 2012-2015, 2018-2023.
Away from the office, Al enjoys spending time with his six grandchildren. As an avid baseball fan (particularly the Cleveland Guardians), he enjoys traveling to spring training and away games. In his downtime, he enjoys reading a good book.
