Shareholder, Commercial Collections Group chair, and president of the
Commercial Law League of America (CLLA) Jim Kozelek recently attended the CLLA
Capitol Hill Day in Washington, D.C.
This event was open to all CLLA members to promote the association on behalf of issues that affect their members. Jim, and many individuals, presented these issues to Congressional staff members and liaisons.
“After a two-year pandemic hiatus, it was great to get back to D.C. for in-person meetings with our elected officials,” said, Jim. “Every office I met with was very engaged and interested to learn more about our positions on bankruptcy venue reform,
subchapter V of chapter 11 bankruptcies, and codifying ‘substantial hardship’ into the bankruptcy code in relation to
student loan dischargeability. In addition, it is always great to see my fellow CLLA members (veterans and newcomers alike) in both a professional and personal capacity, break bread, explore the great city and, of course, advocate for the league and all creditors’ rights professionals. This has become one of my favorite events and I look forward to many more to come.”
