Weltman Attorneys Named to the 2024 Ohio Super Lawyer and Rising Star Lists

Topics: Awards

CLEVELAND — Weltman, Weinberg & Reis Co., LPA, a full-service creditors' rights law firm with over 93 years of client service, is honored to announce two of its attorneys were named to the 2024 Ohio Super Lawyers list, with an additional three attorneys being named to the 2024 Ohio Rising Stars list.

Super Lawyers, part of Thomson Reuters, is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The annual selections are made using a patented multiphase process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, an independent research evaluation of candidates, and peer reviews by practice area. The result is a credible, comprehensive, and diverse listing of exceptional attorneys.

Because of this rigorous selection process, only 5% of all practicing lawyers are selected to the Super Lawyers list for their region and practice area. Additionally, only 2.5% of all attorneys under age 40 will be selected to the relevant Rising Stars list each year.

Weltman is pleased to have the following attorneys named to the 2024 Ohio Super Lawyers list:

Larry Rothenberg, shareholder: Larry is a Cleveland-based veteran real estate attorney. He assists banks, credit unions, and mortgage servicers with real estate transactions and enforcing their rights in defaulted real estate-secured loans. Larry has been recognized by Super Lawyers in 2004, 2005, and 2008-2024.

Scott Weltman, shareholder: Scott primarily practices commercial and consumer collections, operating out of the firm’s Cleveland office. He also returned to his position as chair of the Probate Recovery Group in 2021, where he leads Weltman’s probate litigation and defense services. Scott was first named to the 2005 Ohio Rising Stars list and then recognized by Super Lawyers in 2007 and 2010-2024.

The following three attorneys have been selected to the 2024 Ohio Rising Stars list:

Megan Katz, attorney: Megan joined the firm’s Real Estate Default Group in 2022 with a focus on evictions and foreclosures. Highly regarded for strong emotional intelligence and communication skills, Megan has the ability to foster collegial relationships with everyone she interacts with, from clients and co-workers to opposing counsel. Megan’s multi-faceted experience gives her a competitive edge, allowing her to understand the law from various vantage points. This is her first time receiving Super Lawyer’s Ohio Rising Star honor.

Hannah Kunc, attorney: Hannah joined the firm’s Consumer Collections Group in the summer of 2021. In this role, she helps small to large-size financial institutions recover money and/or assets owed from defaulted loans, credit payments, vehicle leases, and more. A firm believer in clear, consistent communication, Hannah aims to set realistic expectations – for both clients and debtors – in her pursuit of the best possible recovery outcomes. This is her second time being named to the Rising Star list.

Alex Weinberg, attorney: An Ohio-licensed attorney, Alex practices in consumer collections. He works hard to help clients recover their money while also protecting their brand reputations and relationships with consumers. His client portfolio ranges from small businesses to large corporations, including banks, credit unions, auto lenders, mortgage servicers, and more. This is his second time being named to the Rising Star list.

Congratulations to every attorney selected to the Super Lawyer and Rising Star lists!
